Bridal shower cupcakes

I made these for Anna's bridal shower. I love decorating pink cupcakes. The lighting makes the hot pink look a little orange but it was pink. We made chocolate cupcakes with cream cheese frosting (Anna's favorite)
Since this was a huge cupcake order I wanted to add a little variety to some of them so I added a raspberry filling to more than half the order. I think it turned out yummy.
I used the recipe on the Wilton website but used less sugar since the cupcake and frosting is so sweet to begin with. It was the perfect tartness.
Raspberry filling
16 oz. frozen raspberries thawed
1/3 cup sugar
3 Tbsp. cornstarch
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Drain raspberries, reserving liquid. Add enough water to liquid to equal 1 1/4 cups. In large saucepan, combine liquid, sugar, cornstarch and lemon juice; mix well. Heat and stir until mixtures boils and thickens. Cool completely. Stir thawed raspberries into cool mixture. I used the bismarck tip to fill the cupcakes. This makes enough for 4 dozen cupcakes.
.
I used a star tip for the rose (this is the technique I am using for part of her wedding cake-it's basically a swirl) and a pedal tip for the flower.
I love the doilies they decorated with.

I had so much fun with these colors. I loved creating all the different textures.

Aerial shot. I love the way they decorated this table. I think they used wrapping paper for the runner. What an awesome idea!

Corny cupcakes

Natalie and I made these for our pioneer day celebration. We were suppose to bring food that our pioneers would have eaten back in the day. What? Me? Am I capable of making any of those things? Probably, but not nearly as fun. I have been wanting an excuse to make these Martha Stewart creations so I had to be creative and say that the pioneers definitely ate corn on the cob.

These were super easy especially if your friend who's helping makes the cupcakes and frosting. Thanks Natalie!!

We used jelly bellies (pina colada, buttered popcorn, and cream soda) for the kernels, yellow Starbursts for the butter, and black sugar for the pepper.

I found these corn holders in the dollar spot of Target.

Patti these are dedicated to you! We wanted to make these together but being a thousand miles away made it kinda difficult.

Pink and Orange baby shower

Where do I begin! I love that I get to do Jenny's cupcakes for her because she and her sister know how to throw darling/amazing showers. I was so happy that she let me take these photos at her house. I was happy to bring her the cupcakes to get this in return. First of all her house is so darling (she is an artist and has gorgeous artwork everywhere) and you can imagine how happy I was to see this cupcake stand there waiting for the cupcakes. She told me she was having her husband make her one like mine. But when I this I was floored, mine never looked so cute. So now I will be copying her to decorate mine from now on.

I did Stawberry cake and vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting (her favorite.) I did pink and orange for the main colors and the toppers were in the accent colors-lime green and light pink. I found the hearts in the Wilton wedding section at Wal-mart. For the sprinkles I used hot pink and orange sugar crystals and I picked out pink and orange dots from a multi-colored container.

I am in love with orange and pink together. What a fun combination.

I love that the flowers totally matched.

I had to get a shot of this. It was in the other room but it was so beautiful. See I told you they know how to throw a beautiful party. She even had kitchen towels hanging from her oven that matched. I loved it!!!

Zebra cupcakes

I made these for Ansley's bridal shower. I love zebra print so these were fun to do.
Sorry the lighting wasn't so great but you get the hint. I made a french vanilla cake from a box but changed it up by adding 1 cup sour cream, 1 box french vanilla pudding, 1 extra egg, 1 cup of white chocolate chips. I think they turned out yummy. I used my cream cheese frosting recipe and tinted it red and a small portion black using the Wilton gel colors.

I found these cupcake liners at Michael's. To get the swirled or zebra striped frosting look I painted 3 stripes of black frosting inside a piping bag then carefully added the white frosting in the middle. Squeeze bag over bowl until you see the color start to mix and then pipe away.

I love having a cupcake topper. For these I melted red and white chocolate melts and poured them individually into the Wilton heart mold (I also found this at Michaels.) For the zebra print I used melted black chocolate (I had in freezer from Halloween) and painted the stripes on using a paint brush. Thanks Dee for this idea! I tried to use gel color and edible markers but it didn't work on chocolate. I really didn't want to use fondant so I made this work.
