Have you ever had a friend that you love to spend time with because they make you want to be a better person but your lives are so busy that it doesn't happen very often? That's how I feel about Colette. I am so happy and blessed that I got to plan and execute this shower with her. It was so wonderful! I love her goodness in so many ways!
Her house made this shower look so good. I loved it! We did this airplane shower for our dear friend Courtney. Her nursery colors are gray, green and white.
We folded a bunch of paper airplanes and Colette made garlands by adding string and white pom pom balls that looked like clouds.

2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup butter (creamed)
1 cup sour cream
Combine & beat until creamy. Add 61/2 cups flour and 2 tsp. baking soda, and 1 tsp. salt. Mix well. Roll out on floured counter 1/2 inch thick. Or like Colette taught me place between sheets of parchment paper roll out, freeze for 20 minutes, then cut shapes out and put on cookie sheet. (This method will keep you from having to use so much flour which makes cookies taste like flour.) Bake for 10 min. @ 350.
I really liked these colors together. His nursery will be so adorable. I am so sad that I didn't get a picture of the banner Colette made for him. But trust me it was super cute!This cake is amazing and is perfect for a brunch! I didn't think I liked pound cake until I tried this (thanks Bonnie Agee)
Sour Cream Pound Cake
Ingredients:
1 cup butter
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
2 tsp. vanilla extract
2 tsp. lemon extract
1 tsp. orange extract
8 oz. sour cream
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
powdered sugar
Directions:
Preheat oven 325. Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer about 2 min. or until soft and creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating at med. speed 5 to 7 min. Add eggs, one at a time, beating just until yellow disappears.
Sift together flour, baking soda, and salt, add to cream mixture alternately with sour cream, beginning and ending with flour mixture. Mix at lowest speed just until blended after each addition. Stir in flavoring.
Pour batter into a greased and floured 10 inch bundt or tube pan. Bake 325 for 1 hour 20 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan on a wire rack 10 to 15 minutes. Remove fro pan and let cool completely on a wire rack. If desired, sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Super fun take home favors. I loved the idea of covering the gum stick and smarties with paper to match your theme. I saw some for Valentines that I might have to try.

Colette made a delicious homemade crust (sorry I didn't get the recipe from her) but I have just used the pre made crust which isn't as good but still tastes yummy.
6 strips bacon, crumbled
3/4 cup cooked diced ham
1 cup grated swiss cheese
3 eggs
1 c heavy cream
salt and pepper
Place bacon, ham and cheese in cooked crust. Beat eggs and cream, pour on top. Bake 375 for 30 to 40 minutes.
