Turtle Power!

Melissa let me make these Ninja Turtle cupcakes for her son Zac's 5th birthday.
They were so fun and easy.  I copied the idea online.
The top left is purple but for some reason looks dark blue in the pic. Some of them turned out a little silly but the 5 year olds didn't notice.  =)

Melissa made all these cute take home bags.  They turned out so cute!
She also cut these masks out.
Check her out! That's a lot of eyes she had to cut out.  What dedication!
I wish I would have gotten a pic of the huge Ninja Turtle jump house she rented.  It was a fun party!

Soccer buddies!

We made these for Wyatt's soccer snack today.  I found the idea online.
I  love how a simple face can give anything a personality.
We used applesauce for the head, Nerds-feet (I saw an idea where they used Raisins which would have been healthier but I had these on hand), Smarties-arms, and I found the chocolate balls in the Mexican candy section at our Wal-Mart.  I also glued a spoon to the back of him for support and to eat the applesauce with.
Wyatt's soccer buddies loved these!

Movie time!

Another boring post but every snack has it's memories for me.  Ethan's teacher decided the kids needed a break after testing so they had a movie day.  We made these for fun. White chocolate popcorn: I used 2 bags of microwave popcorn(I prefer to use salt and butter flavor) with 2 or 3 squares of melted white almond bark. Mix in a big bowl and then spread on a big pan to dry.
Ethan was a huge helper with cutting these marshmallows for the popcorn cupcakes.  It was fun hanging out watching TV while we did this.  I love my Ethan!

Western themed daddy daughter party.

We did a western themed daddy daughter activity for our YW and their dads tonight. Amanda was in charge and let me make some cupcakes.
I found this idea online.  I used Pringles (original), Reeses peanut butter cups, and pull apart licorice to make them.

I dipped half of the Pringle in milk chocolate and once it was dried I dipped the other half.  I added the Reeses and red rope before it dried. I had to go back and add a little chocolate to the rope where they crossed in the back.  I think I found a new favorite snack- chocolate covered Pringles.  So yummy!
I also made mini vanilla cupcakes for those who don't like chocolate.  My star was a little lopsided but hopefully you could guess what it was.
This was some of the other cute food the other leaders made. I love the labels they found for this.  Click here to make your own. So creative! Rice Crispie treats=hay bales on a stick.
Stuffed JalapeƱos wrapped in bacon(delish)=rattlesnake bites
Lemonade=cactus punch

The girls helped make signs everywhere which turned out so cute.
Amanda had some really fun games planned like 3 legged races, guess what leg is my dad's (they hid behind the curtain and just showed us their legs), country line dancing (Amanda is a wonderful dancer and taught us) and of course there was a photo booth. What a fun night!

Clint's 2014 Tribute- Part two

To honor Clint's memory this year my kids decided they wanted to thank our Border Patrol.
We made raspberry brownie bites and cards to deliver to the Border Patrol checkpoint on our way to Cloud Croft.
These are the cute cards my kids made for them!

Clint's 2014 tribute- Part One

It's been 10 years today since my brother Clint sacrificed his life for our freedom.  My kids have decided they like to bring treats to their classrooms so they can talk about him with their friends. It really is a special day for us. This year we thought it would be fun to do patriotic strawberries.
We love days like today where we get to fly our special flag in honor of SFC Clint Ferrin.  This flag was flown in Iraq (by my brother in law who was serving there) on this day 10 years ago.  When he returned home he had these words inscribed on it: Operation Iraqi Freedom Flown in Honor of SFC Clint Ferrin. We treasure this flag and are so thankful for those who have sacrificed their lives for us.

White signifies purity and innocence, Red- hardiness & valour, and Blue- vigilance, perseverance & justice.
Ethan's teacher was again so sweet and let him talk about why he had a patriotic treat in March.  He loves talking about Clint and is so proud that he's named after him.  The kids think it's cool too!
When I took Wyatt's to his preschool class the teacher had me explain why we brought them in which wasn't a very good idea.  The teachers and I ended up in tears and I'm sure the kids thought I was crazy!  But all in all it was a special day.

Fruit Pizza Madness

Ethan wanted to take these for his class snack this month.
 Crust:
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 & 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup butter
Mix together and pack onto a 16" pizza pan. Heat oven to 350 and cook 12-15 minutes.

1st layer:
8 oz cream cheese (softened)
1/2 cup sugar (I used powdered)
1 tsp. vanilla
Mix and spread on cooled crust.

2nd layer:
Add fruit of your choice. The more color the prettier.

Top layer:
1 cup pineapple juice
1 tsp. lemon juice
1 Tbsp. corn starch (I stir mine in a little of the pineapple juice so it's not lumpy)
1/2 cup sugar
Cook in small saucepan on med high heat until it is thick and clear. Cool and spread over fruit.
Place pizza in fridge to cool and then serve.
It was my birthday today so when I took these into the class Ethan's sweet teacher had them sing to me.  It was so awesome!  I also got to stay and help serve this to his friends.  What a fun day for me!

Sephonnie's baby shower

Sugar cookies for Sephonnie's baby shower.
 Recipe:
2 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup butter (creamed)
1 cup sour cream
Combine & beat until creamy. Add 6 1/2 cups flour and 2 tsp. baking soda, and 1 tsp. salt. Mix well. Roll out on floured counter 1/2 inch thick. Or place between sheets of parchment paper roll out, freeze for 20 minutes, then cut shapes out and put on cookie sheet. (This method will keep you from having to use so much flour which makes your cookies taste like flour :)   Bake for 10 min. @ 350.

Michele made the other treats and all the yummy food too!

Homemade lemondade in cute blue mason jars.
Love how the onesie clothesline banner turned out!
 Michele made this cute banner.

I loved this idea. Michele made a bunch of earrings and bracelets so Sephonnie could hand these out at the shower along with the onesie thank you card instead of writing her own thank yous.
These were fun to decorate.  Michele printed the onesies out and I got to decorate them.
