It's been 10 years today since my brother Clint sacrificed his life for our freedom. My kids have decided they like to bring treats to their classrooms so they can talk about him with their friends. It really is a special day for us. This year we thought it would be fun to do patriotic strawberries.
We love days like today where we get to fly our special flag in honor of SFC Clint Ferrin. This flag was flown in Iraq (by my brother in law who was serving there) on this day 10 years ago. When he returned home he had these words inscribed on it: Operation Iraqi Freedom Flown in Honor of SFC Clint Ferrin. We treasure this flag and are so thankful for those who have sacrificed their lives for us.
White signifies purity and innocence, Red- hardiness & valour, and Blue- vigilance, perseverance & justice.
Ethan's teacher was again so sweet and let him talk about why he had a patriotic treat in March. He loves talking about Clint and is so proud that he's named after him. The kids think it's cool too!
When I took Wyatt's to his preschool class the teacher had me explain why we brought them in which wasn't a very good idea. The teachers and I ended up in tears and I'm sure the kids thought I was crazy! But all in all it was a special day.
