Every March my family likes to pay tribute to my brother Clint, who was killed in Iraq 11 years ago, by doing something to honor a hero. It usually involves a treat.
This year my kids wanted to make caramel pretzels to give to the local police station.
They made sweet little letters to go with them.
Ethan wanted to help this year which I was happy about.
We simplified the process this year by using the big Kraft caramels. We unwrapped the caramels, put several on a plate, and then microwaved them for about 20-30 seconds so they would mold easier around the pretzel. And then dipped them in chocolate
We had a great time together! I love working with my kids in the kitchen. It's amazing what they will tell me when they are distracted making fun things.
We made some extra pretzels so Ethan could share them with his class. He loves telling his friends about his hero Uncle. We love you, Clint!
