Melting snowmen

Jill and I had a great time making these during the dreary month of January (even if we don't have snow.)
We loved seeing their little personalities come together.
These little bow tie friends were made with chocolate cake balls.  We mixed the cake with peanut butter and formed 1 inch balls.  We poured white chocolate (almond bark) over them and added the hat (mini oreo cookie and mini Reeses cup) before they dried.  Once they dried we added the face with colored frosting.
These little scarf buddies are made with cookie balls.  We crushed up Nutter Butter cookies and mixed the crumbs with cream cheese.  I just guessed at how much to add.  Add enough cream cheese until it will roll into a ball.  Then follow the same steps as above to make the snowman.   This is my first time trying the cookie ball and I loved it.

Emmett's black tie birthday!

Jill and I made these for Emmett's first birthday.  Black tie was a perfect theme for this little boy whose life truly is a miracle.  His first weeks of life were very scary and so this birthday represented so much more than a fun theme.  It was amazing to be a part of.  I loved seeing all the tuxes including Emmett himself and all the ladies in their pretty dresses.  What a perfect way to celebrate his life.  I really loved this idea!  There was yummy appetizers, dancing, a silent auction and watching the little man dig into his cake in just a diaper and his bow tie.  SO ADORABLE!!
We made these toppers out of black chocolate.  We used a star mold and traced the black tie onto wax paper.

Happy Birthday sweet Emmett!

Rain, Rain Go Away...

So what's a mom like me suppose to do when my oldest comes home from school saying he's had a bad week and things aren't looking up?  Well it's simple I turn to treats.  They are the answer to every bad day or situation, right?

I think part of his bad week is because it has been raining none stop for a week.  No recess for a boy can get to you.  So we decided to make umbrella rice crispies to help us get over our rain blues.  And to make it even more special he decided to share them with his friends at school.
While we were at it, we wanted to "brighten" the day for
Wyatt's preschool class too! These are the plain ones.
We also made a peanut butter batch, our favorite.
Combine 1 cup sugar and 1 cup karo syrup in saucepan on low heat.
Dissolve sugar and once it boils add 1 1/4 cup peanut butter
then pour over a bowl of 4 to 5 cups rice crispies.

Basketball madness

It was our turn to bring the team snack for Ethan's basketball game.  We decided it would be fun to try these.  They were simple to decorate but all the baking and prep took time.  I was glad I only made 12.

Backboard-cookie (I used a snickerdoodle pack I had on hand.) I cut the bottom so it sat flat on the table.
Basket-mini cupcake frosted white.
I piped the orange lines on first then used chocolate to glue the backboard onto the cupcake.  I added the chocolate ball after that.  I found these balls around Easter time last year and kept them in my freezer.
Ethan also wanted to take some bags of microwave popcorn for fun.  I want to remember this for future team treats.  I thought it was a great idea and the kids loved it! I wish I would have got a picture of all the team eating their treats.  They were adorable.

Sundaes for a Sunday birthday!

 Happy 2nd Birthday Lucy!!
We did something simple for Lucy's party because the kids were just getting over the stomach flu and we didn't want to spread germs and honestly we weren't in the mood to go all out.  It was so nice to relax and be able to use stuff I already had.
I used these wonderful plates and napkins and tablecloth that Patti got for me as my theme.  Her birthday was on Sunday so we decided to do a simple sundae theme.
We made sundae cupcakes and had a ice cream sundae bar. We invited our next door neighbors (some of Lucy's favorite friends) over because they are getting over the same flu too.
Lucy helped me make her cupcakes.  She was so adorable.  She wanted vanilla cake with cream cheese frosting. We put a chocolate pudding filling in them too.
After we took the pictures I had this thought of drizzling chocolate syrup on top.  Now it really looks like a sundae!!
Just a FYI for next time. It did ball up after a minute so you may want to use ganache.
Here's the mini ice cream sundae bar .  I loved the little cups that Patti got with the set.
Here's my little princess getting ready to enjoy her sundaes.  Happy Birthday Lucy-lou!
